July - light, trace, memory, and innovation

There has long been a fascination with light in both Australian art and also design.

The work of Harold Cazneaux, the 'father' of Australian modern art photography, is celebrated for its embrace of natural light.

Conversely, Australian lighthouse designers focused on the extent of the reflections of prisms of light, engineered to extend as far as possible out to sea.

Nearly 100 years ago, light on silver gelatin bonded to celluloid film captured the imagination and inventiveness of Harry Julius, Australia's first animator.

Light, poetry, trace and memory are explored this month on screen and online as well as in choreography, installations, objects and forums.

Your ideas are also sought for how the critical role of innovation in creative industries can be supported by government investment.
